Min. Dr. James Allen accepted the call to pastor Rehoboth Baptist Church of Virginia Beach, VA., in December 2022. He was an Associate Minister at New Hope Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, VA., for 19 years and served as the Facilitator of the Associate Ministers Ministry. Dr. Allen earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. He earned his Master of Divinity from the same great institution.
He is the immediate past President of the Virginia Beach Interdenominational Ministers Conference. He has served as the Dean of Students at Roanoke Theological Seminary in Elizabeth City, NC, and has served as an adjunct online and classroom professor for Hampton University and Regent University. Dr. Allen is co-founder of Due The Right Things, an organization dedicated to the education, encouragement, and support of theologically sound elected leaders.
Dedicated to education and support of the next generation of ministers, Dr. Allen has taught multiple religious studies classes including Homiletics, Biblical Exegesis, Introduction to the Old and New Testaments, Church History, Black Church History, Introduction to Biblical Studies, Thinking Theologically, Academic Writing, and other Christian Education courses.
Dr. Allen answered the call to ministry over 19 years ago and believes in the blessed power of Jesus The Christ to save, sanctify, and serve the whole of humanity. His is a ministry rooted in knowing Christ has set us free and the Church is God’s greatest blessing to humankind. Through its efforts, salvation comes to all. Dr. Allen believes the Church has a call and duty to be the light on the hill, challenging the spiritual wickedness in high places everywhere it raises its unholy head, in the unity of faith, spirit, peace, and love.
He is married to Victoria, and they have 5 children and 9 grandchildren.
